Xi Jinping congratulates King Charles III and hopes to work together
Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated the new King Charles III, hoping to work with the monarch to “enhance understanding and friendship” between the two countries.
n a message broadcast by state media, Jinping called for “mutually beneficial cooperation” and the strengthening of communication on issues that can benefit the two countries and contribute to world peace and development.
The Chinese President also recalled that this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Britain.
Queen Elizabeth II, who visited China in 1968, died on Thursday at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland after more than 70 years of the longest reign in UK history.
Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor was born on April 21, 1926, in London and became Queen of England in 1952 at the age of 25 following the death of her father, George VI, who became king when his brother abdicated.
After the monarch’s death, her first-born son assumed the duties of king at the age of 73 as Charles III.
