The coffin will remain in the Throne Room of the Palace of Holyroodhouse until Monday. The funeral will take place on September 19.

The coffin bearing the body of Queen Elizabeth II arrived this Sunday afternoon, September 11, at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official residence in Scotland. The funeral procession began at Balmoral Castle, where the monarch spent the last moments of her life.

Hundreds of people waited for the coffin to pass through Edinburgh, and the moment was marked by the applause of the crowd at this farewell to Queen Elizabeth II.

Apart from Charles III, Elizabeth II’s children—Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward—were present as the coffin was taken into Holyroodhouse Palace.

King Charles III is in London carrying out his royal duties but will travel to Edinburgh this Monday.
