Elon Musk: Acquiring Twitter is “important for the future of civilization”
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk gave an interview during a TED conference where he defended his proposal to acquire Twitter. The businessman stated that his intention is to ensure that the platform remains trusted by democracies around the world.
“This is not a way to make money. My strong intuitive sense is that having a public platform that is maximally trusted and broadly inclusive is extremely important to the future of civilization,” Musk told CNN.
“Can someone you don’t like say something you don’t like? If the answer is yes, then we have freedom of expression.”
The businessman noted that Twitter should also share the platform’s source code on platforms such as Github, which would increase transparency and make it possible to publicly know how moderation decisions are made on the social network.
