US president Joe Biden is being pressured to ban TikTok
Business Insider reports that Republican Senator Marco Rubio has appealed to President Joe Biden to ban TikTok in the US, pointing out that the Chinese Communist Party has bought a stake in ByteDance and now has three seats on the company’s board of directors.

“The Biden Administration can no longer pretend that TikTok is not beholden to the Chinese Communist Party,” Rubio said. “Even before today, it was clear that TikTok represented a serious threat to personal privacy and U.S. national security.”,” the Republican senator said, noting that the White House must “make an immediate decision and remove ByteDance and TikTok from the equation” .
The senator took the opportunity to remind that the US would not be the only country to block TikTok, pointing out that India has already done so in 2020.
