For the first time ever, the movie with most oscar nominations (Mank) belongs to Netflix
Netflix was featured in the nominees’ announcement for the 2021 Oscars, with its original film ‘Mank’ leading the way with a total of 10 nominations.
‘Mank’ is present in several main categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Secondary Actress, Best Wardrobe and Best Original Soundtrack.
There are also other Netflix films featured in the Oscar nominations, including ‘The Trial of the Chicago’, ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’ and ‘Da 5 Bloods’. In total, Netflix gathered 35 nominations in the 2021 Oscars.
There were other streaming services featured during the Oscar nominations, including ‘Sound of Metal’ and ‘Borat Subsequent Moviefilm’ from Amazon, ‘Soul’ and ‘Mulan’ from Disney + and ‘Wolfmakers’ and ‘Greyhound’ from Apple TV +.
This seems to be the beginning of a ‘streaming dominated’ movies era.
