Facebook is working on a clubhouse clone
Clubhouse is a social network that has been giving something to talk about at the moment. Available only for iOS, for now, a platform based on audio conversations has been drawing the attention of many personalities. In the last week, Elon Musk was one of the big names who went there, as well as Mark Zuckerberg – the founder of Facebook who seems to have liked it so much, that he plans a clone to compete with the app.
The information is from The New York Times, which claims to have heard two people close to the subject. According to the sources, Facebook would have asked employees to create a similar product – the project would be in an early stage of development.
Facebook did not comment on the rumor, but a rival for the Clubhouse would not be a surprise. The company has a long history of creating services that “copy” resources from new applications that conquer the internet. Some examples are Instagram Stories, created to end Snapchat, and Reels, which tries to overcome TikTok.
In addition, it would not be a surprise if Facebook tried to buy the Clubhouse, as the company has already targeted potential strong competitors before, buying Instagram itself and WhatsApp, as they became increasingly successful.
