The audit court said it had received a complaint on Sept. 10 from a human rights and transparency group in El Salvador called Cristosal.
The group requested an audit on the authorization processes for the purchase of Bitcoins, as well as a review of the construction of the stands used in the ATMs that were set up with public funds.
The investigation comes about ten days after El Salvador made Bitcoin legal tender amid protests by the population. Now, the cryptocurrency is also the country’s official currency alongside the dollar.
