The annual inflation rate in Germany rose to 3.9% in August, the highest level since December 1993, when it reached 4.3%, thats what preliminary data released this Monday by the German federal statistical agency (Destatis) indicate.

The harmonized Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Germany, which is calculated according to the criteria of the European Union (EU), increased by 3.4% in July in year-on-year terms, against 3.1% in July.
