Windows 10 adds 300 million users in one year and reaches 1.3 billion monthly active users
The company added that, in the space of a year, it managed to add 300 million users to the operating system. Microsoft explained this growth with the pandemic, which prompted several people to buy computers to work from home.
During the presentation of these financial results, Microsoft also said it had an increase in profits of around 44%:
Revenue was $41.7 billion and increased 19%
Operating income was $17.0 billion and increased 31%
Net income was $15.5 billion GAAP and $14.8 billion non-GAAP, and increased 44% and 38%, respectively
Diluted earnings per share was $2.03 GAAP and $1.95 non-GAAP, and increased 45% and 39%,respectively
GAAP results include a $620 million net income tax benefit explained in the Non-GAAP Definition section below
The company also commented on its video game division, Xbox. Official figures have not been released but Microsoft has announced that Xbox console sales have increased 232% over the same period last year. With regard to the division of services and content (exclusive games, Xbox Game Pass and Live Gold), Microsoft said only that it had a 34% increase in revenue.
