Ford executive criticizes Tesla’s autonomous mode
Ford does not seem to be convinced of Tesla’s autonomous driving system, with one of the company’s executives considering it to be “vaporware”. This term is used to classify products/services advertised but which never reach the market.
The Ford executive in question was responsible for product communications in North America, Mike Levine, and said on Twitter that the company does not even have to compare itself to Tesla.
“… return those $10K full-self driving deposits. [Mustang] Mach-E customers drive away with a car. Tesla customers drive off with vaporware.” said Levine.
Tesla is currently testing the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, a mode that according to the company may eventually take full control of the brand’s vehicles. However, this is not the first time that the company has been criticized, with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stating that “no vehicle currently available for purchase is capable of driving itself”.
Any Mach-E customer who sees a dealer adding a markup can reach out to me. I’ll help them find another dealer. Good luck reaching out to Tesla to get your FSD.
