Cristiano Ronaldo is the first player to be rewarded with cryptocurrencies
Juventus, one of the main soccer teams in Italy, presented on Sunday (21) the striker of the team Cristiano Ronaldo with 770 JUV – official fan token of the club – for his achievements on the field. He was the first player to receive cryptocurrencies as a prize.
Each digital asset, which costs US $15, represented a goal scored by the Portuguese athlete throughout his career. In total, he pocketed $11,500.
According to data from CoinMarketCap, the capitalization of the JUV – total market value of the cryptocurrency’s circulating supply – is $19.6 million. In the past 24 hours, $13.8 million has been traded. In total, according to the club, there are about 1.3 million JUV fan tokens in circulation. The total amount of digital assets created by the football team is 20 million.
The JUV was launched in late 2019 on the Socios.com platform, powered by the Chiliz token (CHZ), which saw its price skyrocket 2,600% in the first months of this year, from 0.02 to 0.05 cents.
