Facebook accused of systemic racism in recruitment
Reuters is moving forward with the news that Facebook is being investigated in the U.S. due to alleged systemic racism in hiring practices and even promotions within the company.
The nature of the investigation is not yet clear but, according to sources in the Reuters publication, the complaints are based on subjective evaluations and racist stereotypes. With regard to the payment of bonuses, the amount attributed by Facebook is allegedly lower in new hires of black employees.
It is not yet clear whether this investigation will have any consequences for Facebook, but in any case, it is not the first time that the technology company’s recruitment process has been signaled. In 2017, the company was accused for similar reasons.
