Clubhouse invites are being sold for more than $100 on the web

Clubhouse started 2021 as the social network of the moment. With its unique proposal of having only audio conversations, the application is exclusive for iPhone and only allows the entry by invitation of a user already active on the platform

With the restriction, invitations started to be sold on the internet, especially after Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk participated in an event on the app on January 31. The average invite price is ranging from $20 to $50 dollars (though some have gone for as much as $125 on eBay). There’s an entire subreddit dedicated to the selling of Clubhouse invites that has amassed more than 7.2k followers and continues to grow.

In China, entries for the app were announced on Alibaba, but the app ended up being blocked in the country.

The competitor’s sudden success prompted Facebook to plan to launch a similar product. The company, which owns WhatsApp and Instagram, has already “inspired” other apps that “rocked”, like Snapchat and TikTok, to create new features for its apps. Twitter is also on the race for this new audio based social networks trend.
